Welsh section B Stallion  Liver chestnut  1m36  •  dob 1997

by Downland Rembrandt out of Downland Minihaha by Downland Chevalier

Navaho was born at Mr Clive Morse's stud in Wales where he won many prizes at breeding events. Imported into France in 2000, Navaho only joined our stud  in 2003, at the age of six.

We were initially interested in his pedigree - his bloodlines seemed very rare to us, especially in France. Navaho has got a lot of welsh blood, particularly Downland and his origines show considerable line-breeding. His  grand sire is Downland Chevalier (See our Downland Page for more details) and his dams side goes back to Bwlch Goldflake. Goldflake is the dam of Bwlch Valentino, a British riding pony which strongly influenced North European breeds in Germany, Netherlands or Sweden particularly due to her movement.

At first sight, we liked Navaho because of his exceptional beauty, his small head,  tiny ears and neck. When cantering, he showed a lot of balance and agility. The first jumps tried with him and a young 9yr old rider were jumped with a simplicity and ability which was surprising for a colt that had never done any show jumping before.

Navaho is now confirming his qualities for show jumping, although his first events were disappointing because of repeated eliminations due to lack of experience, fear of jumps and consequent refusals. We finally accepted to focus on breeding for the first year.

After his first season at stud, Navaho was hard to get back jumping. He stopped on each new jump and it took a few months for him to discover his form. Since the beginning of spring 2004, Navaho has matured and  finished the season doing 105cm classes and was a very well placed 13th in the 2004 French National Championship.

Navaho was only covering mares privately in 2004 to focus on jumping and 2005 will be the same.
He will have a new rider for this new season, as he has now been outgrown by his old rider.
